The Musical Journey I
Friday night at Zanzibar Blue, I had the most amazing live jazz experience and the most tender beef and the most juicy crab cakes. With two full-blown first-heard instrumental numbers and six well-memorized songs for me, Patricia Barber delivered an intimate and powerful musical banquet that few had done. She also conquered B's heart, especially with "S'Wonderful", her finger gestures, and her little muted cries in between solos. It was the most romantic dinner/gig I've ever had.
Here's the setlist as I remember it...
1. (Not Recognized)
2. S'Wonderful
3. The Moon
4. Witchcraft
5. Hunger
6. (Not Recognized)
7. Summer Samba
8. Icarus
After the show she was real nice to each and every fan who approached her without any screams. We were holding "Mythologies" and "Night Club" in our hands and she realized that our pen wasn't the autographing type, so she ushered us into their prep-room and we got to meet the band members, all of who are real nice people too. So, Santa was on our side and we got both albums signed and both pictures taken (B's got a better resolution than mine-because I took that one!). A group of really amazing artists, who continue to do great and beautiful things.
Thank you so much, Patricia.
